    Its not clear what sort of information you are looking for. However:
    There is one birth registration in Wiltshire that would fit and that is:
    1844; Apr-Jun quarter; District: Mere; Volume 8 page 404. To get details about his parents then you would have to purchase his birth certificate from the General Registry Office at a cost of £9.50. Certificates can be purchased on line from: https://www.gro.gov.uk/gro/content/certificates/. Do not use a third party supplier as they will charge more.

    In 1867 there is a marriage registration to Albertine Mary Cox, in the Oct-Dec quarter, again at Mere; volume 5A page 485.

    The first census record that I have spotted for him is in 1891 when he and his family were living at South Newton, Wilton, Wiltshire, and he was an agricultural labourer. Archive reference:RG12 Piece number:1622 Folio:80 Page:12

    The second census record is in 1911 when he, his wife and grandchildren were living at Southbrook Mere Wiltshire, Mere, Wiltshire, and he was described as a Retired Farm Labourer Army Pensioner. Ref: RG14PN12161 RG78PN685 RD256 SD1 ED10 SN88

    He died in 1913 and was buried in Mere cemetery on 19 April 1913.

    I have now looked at another site and the census references for other years are:
    1871 Class: RG10; Piece: 1176; Folio: 22; Page: 38;
    1881 Class: RG11; Piece: 2091; Folio: 54; Page: 8
    1901 RG13; Piece: 1963; Folio: 119; Page: 16

    And I should have said that they had had 9 children all of whom were still alive in 1911.

    I have now found the 1851 census for him (his name has been spelt Able), and his parents are John and Elizabeth born 1800 and 1802 respectively. The eldest son was born in 1828.
    Archive reference:HO107 Piece number:1850 Folio:239 Page:9

    I have found his father John in the 1841 Census and there is another son born in 1826.

    There is a baptism for a John Candy 26 May 1799 at Sedgehill, Wiltshire to a William and Ann. I don’t know if this is the right John Candy.

    There is a marriage in 1824 at Semley, Wiltshire between John Candy and Elizabeth Scammell.

    There is a death in 1857 for a John Candy registered in Mere, which might be this chap, but at that time the indexes do not give any ages.

    Thanks for all the info., I had some of it. I really wanted his military record. I found a medal of his (named) on eBay sold 2013. Was touched at description of wear on under side from being worn.
    I am trying to get to States to liaise with my sister, so have not been giving time this year to much research. So thanks for all responses
