Hi,
I have recently discovered from an article in Portsmouth Evening News that Mr J.P. LONG, BA was appointed Headmaster of the Arnold Grammar School in Wales in 1889. I have tried to search for the grammar school online and I can't seem to find any results for it. I have searched on the British Newspaper Archives website for further details of the grammar school and I searched on The National Archives website with no luck. Does anyone know where would be the best place to search?
Also, where could I find details of Mr LONG's BA degree?
Any advice would be most welcomed.

Hi Megan, thank you for the helpful info. regarding Welsh Newspapers. I've had a search but only been able to find Arnold College on there and I'm not sure if that is the correct one or not.

I also saw an Arnold College in Swansea - that seemed to be more for students of the Ministry so didn't think it was the correct place.Last edited by pippycat; 15-11-2014 at 6:10 PM. Reason: added info

I had checked J C C Pipon, Llanddulas 1891 Census. There wasn't a J P Long included amongst the staff of that preparatory school.

Thank you very much to everyone for all your help regarding my enquiry - it was very helpful indeed and I have noted the details.
Forgive me for asking but is there a central list of Head Teachers from the past or a list of BA degree recipients recorded anywhere that I could consult?

Were BA degrees only issued from Oxford and Cambridge Universities c.1890?

No - there were lots more universities e.g. London, Welsh universities - Bangor, Aberystwyth and many more.
