glad I found this site. Have been searching various members of paternal and maternal family trees for the past 20 years. Has been hard going at times. Think they may have come from another planet!! I am now stuck with my Gt Gt Gt Grandfather Cuthbert Brumbley who was a Cordwainer and was born in Bourne Lincolnshire in 1800. It seems he moved to Lancashire on marriage to Elizabeth Scolfield Any Help would be appreciated.

Thanks very much for all the info. my maiden name was Bromley so I was aware the name had changed over the years. I am so pleased to have such a prompt reply, I really struggle sometimes. Do you have any more information on Cuthbert born in 1800 or his father James. I am off to Bourne on Thursday and hope to visit the library to find out more about cordwainers.
