"Possible marriage: John Edward Kitchen married Ellen Chilton Sept q 1883 Sleaford, Lincs.

    - Edward didn't use his John name, so maybe not a great problem for William to have lost the name Joseph??"

I do not think there was a JOHN in front of the Edward. He was baptised as Edward married as Edward and buried as Edward. Cannot just add a John to make a marriage fit, sorry.

"STEAM power returned to Doncaster at the weekend as enthusiasts from the borough showed off their wheels at a village event.

The town is most famous for the steam railway locomotives built in Hexthorpe.

But it was traction engines which took the attention when Tickhill Lions took over The Oak pub on Northgate, Tickhill, for a traction engine and classic car show over a whole weekend.

In all there were four traction engines, with two of them provided by Tickhill's based enthusiasts Peter Dook, George Beck, who provided one they share between them, and Bill Kitchen, who drove their engines the few yards to the venue for the event, as did Jim Smith, from Doncaster, who also provided a vehicle."

I have obtained the marriage certificate of Joseph William Kitchen and Dorothy Mary Dove. They married on October 6th 1926 at Swinethorpe. His age is 22 years and occupation engine driver. His father is Edward Kitchen also an engine driver. Looking at the suggestions for the 1911 census the family were living at Chapel Lane Branston.
I now need to find more about Edward Kitchen !!!
