hi
I have hunted high and low trying to find George Maurice Marshall Wilson i have him married in South Shields to a Mary E Dixon in 1875
It states on the census 1881 and onwards he was born in Coventry 1849
There is a George Wilson in coventry at the time but it appears he married someone else and totally the wrong person
On the marriage cert it states his father is called George Wilson and is a draper/haberdasher
I have exhausted my brain for the past 2 and half yrs and everyone elses on a different site***
It appears everything was hush hush in the family no one seemed to know anything about him there was talk of some involvement with russia but thats been chit chat for yrs and nothing came of that he has got to be somewhere prior to his marriage any fresh eyes would be grateful
***See post #9 for details of the posts on the other site and what details have already been found.
Kind Regards
JenL

Is the chap in South Shields the one that you are looking for? If so do you have the census references as that will help us look?

Hi jenL
do you have the actual marriage certificate for George M M and Mary? Is that where you got the information that his father George is a haberdasher/draper? I know the witnesses were from the brides family so no help there.

I did see a birth on FreeBMD for a Thomas George Marshall registered Coventry 1850 but looking on familysearch.org his parents appear to be Thomas and Sarah so another one bites the dust.

With a name like that he could easily be one of the English Romany folk.
