Hi, I'm trying to find where if, possible I can find any records of my grandparents citizenship I have tried the archives in Canada but just can't seem to get past the first page or is this to stop identity theft and it has to be done in person ?
Their names were William Henry Greenwood ( 1879 -1936 ) and Winifred ( this has sometimes been spelt WINNIFRED ) Greenwood nee Nendick ( 1886 -1930) and took out citizenship in 1910 as they show up in the 1911 census for British Colombia .
I don't know if the citizenship documentation was the same as the U.S. where there was a photograph for the records.
Also is there a way to find out if by any chance they might have been Home Children ?
Any help would be appreciated .
Regards
Adrian : )

Hello Adrian
On the 1921 census for British Columbia William and Winnifred it says they immigrated in 1910 and in the column for 'Year Naturalized' there is a dash, indicating they haven't taken that step yet.
I can't get ancestry to bring up a 1911 census for them as yet.

Winifred is with her parents in Sheffield in 1891,surname mistranscribed as Kendrick on ancestry - I have put in a correction.

All born Sheffield except Louisa who is transcribed as being born Clespherton Yorkshire. I can't read it on the original image.
Have you found the family in 1901. I can't see Winifred but her sister Millicent is with her uncle Fred Nendick

What can I say I still get caught out by the transcribing for the censuses one day I'll learn lol!
Wendy, out of curiosity did you get the passenger lists from ancestry.ca ?
I've found William in the Canadian Great War project apparently he enlisted in 1916 in The Duke Of Connaught Regiment 158th Batt after transferring from the 6th Batt and this is what led me to believe he took out citizenship at some point .
Change of subject by the way Almach you're quite correct in it being Cleckheaton as it shows in a census for William Nendick , now I have got more homework lol! thanks once again Adrian : )
