I'm having considerable problems tracing the family of Sarah Rebecca Solomon, who
in 1873 married John Nicholas Venner. 'Solomon' sometimes appears as 'Solomons' in
the records.
In the banns, &c. Sarah's father is said to be Montague Solomons, a tailor.
In the census returns of 1881 and 1891 Sarah gives her birthplace of Lambeth,
surrey. I can't find her in the 1901 census, but in 1911 she states she was born in
London.
However, I've not been able to find anyone with her name born in South London
at an appropriate date -- viz. c. 1855 -- although I did find a Sarah Rebecca
Solomon born at about the right time on Whitechapel. This is a long way from
Lambeth, but fits in with Montague Solomon as a, presumably, Jewish tailor.
Similarly, Montague Solomons' footprint in Ancestry seems very light, with
only two mentions that I can locate, in the banns &c. of his daughter. A
few family trees give a middle name of Levi and a birth date of 1830, but
the same trees gives his first born child arriving in 1838 which makes them
an unreliable source.
Any help would be appreciated
