From the Nottingham Post of Tuesday 13th May 2014:

A SERVICE of rededication is being planned for a memorial stone found at a church during its demolition.

Relatives and families of those remembered on the stone, which was found at Trinity (Methodist) Church, Kirkby-in-Ashfield, are invited to attend.

The date and time of the rededication is still being finalised, but if you have a connection to any of those listed below, you can contact Brian Dykes on 01623 753169 or email (see article).

    The names on the stone are: L Teece, A Simpson, R Wood, H Rogers, A Lee, F Heighway, J Charles, C Preston, C Pollard, W Drabble, I Webster, T Frost, W Newcombe, W Frost, C Meads.

Quick look says L TEECE was of East Kirkby died 1915 so at least First World War. Often find names from both wars on one stone in small churches.

Digressing somewhat, but a similar 'Stone' came to the fore not so long ago in Brum.

If you've got a couple of hours+ to spare, then you can read about it here:-

With 2014 being 100 years on from the beginning of WW1, then there should certainly be a zeal to have these stories told and recorded.
