I believe he served in burma in WW2 with the british army.
He was in the punjab regiment,no 13288.Serial no3994.It could be 14th Punjab regiment.
He was born in1921.I would be most grateful if some one can help me with this.

Welcome to British-Genealogy bigbear007
This sticky will tell you all about WW11 records, who can apply for them and where and how to order. It will be quite a lengthy wait but worth it.

Hang on a minute. The 14th Punjab Regiment was part of the Indian Army, not the British Army.
Your father's name and rank would help.

Thanks Peter for that. I really must read the post properly and not jump to conclusions.

He might still have been in the British Army seconded to the Indian Army - we can't judge without knowing all the relevant details.

Hi
I have been doing some searching and am now thoroughly confused.
First thing I needed to know was this
Naik (Nk: sometimes historically spelled nayak) is the Indian Army and Pakistan Army rank equivalent to corporal. It was previously used in the British Indian Army and the Camel Corps.
Then I looked for the the 14th Punjab Regiment and Wikipedia says it was a regiment of the British Indian Army from 1922 to 1947. It was transferred to the Pakistan Army on independence in 1947, and amalgamated with the 1st, 15th and 16th Punjab Regiments in 1956, to form the Punjab Regiment.
A couple of contact addresses

From where did you get his service details?
I won't even pretend that I know where to start with this one.
