If it wasnt for almach finding the National Probate Calendar we'd probably be still looking for him

I do love it tho when one comes along that is a real challenge

Default DR ARTHUR WORSLEY POWELL PAIGNTON & BENDIGO

It occurred to me that there might be a connection through occupation of Robert Clark (Father of John
Robert who married Annie Davies) and William Powell who took in Annie.

In the UK 1851 census for Newcastle on Tyne Robert Clark is down as a lodger with his sister Alice
(my relative) and says as a Grocer's Assistant. From memory for his death notice in a Bendigo paper
he is down as a grocer. William Powell in some articles on Trove is down as a seedsman but as Shippo found on 11.3. copied below WP is down as a fruiterer.

Perhaps therefore that's how the families came to know each other, possibly in Yorkshire or more
than likely Bendigo - any thoughts?!

Default DR ARTHUR WORSLEY POWELL PAIGNTON & BENDIGO

Thanks for that - skimmed through the Wills postings and have in fact ascertained there is
a Probate office in Leeds so have emailed them

Also asked Bendigo Archives if they can help with the indexes that it was suggested might hold
    the answer to Annie's situation

    with thanks to everyone Jill
