Default WW2 Advice please. Finding a Service Number

    Good morning!
I'm after some advice please, re: my Grandfather who fought in WW2.
I have no information on what regiment he was in or his service number.
How do I go about finding him, I'm new to all this?

    This is what I know:

    Henry Charles Hall
    Born. 1911
    From Hemel Hempstead, Hertfordshire.
He was in Benghazi & Italy.
    He survived the war
He dies in Hemel Hempstead 1993

    Thank you in advance

Default WW2 Advice please. Finding a Serivce Number

You do not require regiment or service number to obtain his service record which will give you a good starting point. Details from the MOD and relevant forms are available on their website.

    Good luck Brian

Hi If Simmo1 is right about that cap badge, i've found a record of a H C Hall as a P.O.W in Poland he was a gunner in the Royal Artillery. He was in Stalag 20b Marienburg, P.O.W number 16872 and his service number is 548126. Hope that helps

Don't jump to conclusions. There are several men named Henry Charles Hall listed as attesting for the Royal Artillery for WW2 (see Findmypast)
