Mitchell Family History

Hi David
Looking at Ancestry trees for this family, I always get uneasy when there are discrepancies between them, particularly when they are pretty fundamental differences.
Many trees show Thomas Hayward Mitchell (where did his middle name come from?) as being born in Eltisley, Cambs in 1566, with some echoing your birthdate of 15 Aug 1566. Eltisley parish registers only start in 1599, so I can't check on whether or not this Thomas was baptised in Eltisley. What's your source for his birth date?
Which leads on to my next worry - without a baptism record how do you know his parents' names? There is a marriage such as you describe at St Stephen, Coleman St, London on 6 Dec 1562. How have you established that these were the parents of Thomas allegedly born (in Cambs) on 19 Aug 1566? Where was Thomas snr buried in Cambs in 1596 - although many other trees show him as being buried in Scotland?

Hi to both of you!
I am researching this line as well. I have not found proof of Thomas Mitchell's (father of Experience Mitchell) birth or parentage. His son, Experience Mitchell is buried in Massachusetts, USA (my first US ancestor), he came over on the Anne as a young teenager (13-15 yrs). Thomas was possibly with him, fallen ill on the trip and may have been buried at sea.
Have either of you made progress?
