    Default Carrie BROWN of Wrexham

    Hi all,

My name is Beth Browne and I'm researching my gg grandmother primarily. I own a cookbook of hers and I'm fascinated to unearth more of her story. She was born Carrie Browne in 1852, I suspect in Wales because her parents married in Wrexboro, but at some point the family came to America because she got the cookbook in 1875 in Ohio, USA. I believe she died in the midwest somewhere too, but not sure where. I have very sketchy information.

Would love to meet any cousins (Carrie had four siblings) or anyone who knows about life in Wrexboro in the early nineteenth century. Gosh, it's so exciting.

I did much research about ten years ago on my now ex-husband's family and I'm just getting around to looking at my side of the tree. It's such fun and so addicting!

    Thanks to all!

    Beth

    Hallo Beth

I confess I have never heard of Wrexboro. Could this be the Borough of Wrexham? Do you know the names of Carrie's parents?

    Default Carrie Browne

    Thank you!

Carrie was the child of John Browne and Jane Brearley Swale and they apparently married in Wrexboro/ham (the spelling may be an error in my records) I would guess around 1834 since their first child was born in 1836. Carrie was the afterthought child, born in 1852. She may have been born in the US, I don't know. But I'm keen to find out!!

Jane's father John Henry Swale was born in Liverpool in 1780.

I'm very confused about where to find records, as the county name keeps changing on me, Clwyd or Flintshire?

The info I have may have been copied from a family bible, I don't know the source and there is much information missing.

Any help would be most welcome.

Have moved this thread again to Denbighshire. Have a look at https://www.genuki.org.uk/big/wal/DEN/Wrexham/index.html for info about Wrexham

    Default Thank you very much!!

    Hello!

Wow, that is awesome! Thanks so much! Absolutely fascinating. My gg grandmother Carrie was born in NY and so was I!!

I don't think that cemetery record is my Jane Browne, as my records show she died in 1856 and she is not showing up on the 1860 Census record you sent.

    Can't thank you enough!!

    Beth
