    Default How strange is this?

I have been researching German immigrants from Baden-Württemberg to Gt. Britain for a while now in return for help with my own German ancestors.

Recently, I was researching a family who came to England from Germany and I couldn't find anyting but death dates.

I nearly gave it up but something made me plod on.

The result was staggering. I found that the German immigrants had changed their name to an English variation.
The search lead me from Yorkshire to Cheshire, where I was born.

The English name rang a bell and I started looking on the Free BMD and found that the descendant was someone I knew and had been on holiday with.

I am awaiting the outcome of this but I am nearly bubbling over with the excitement.

As soon as all is confirmed, I will reveal the details.

Last May I went to a Jazz Concert in our tiny Swiss village restaurant and who should be playing there but a girl, now living in Switzerland but born in Sale, Cheshire, as I was. We are more or less the same age.
