Arthur English starred, with Anita Harris at the Bath Theatre Royal Pantomime in around 1975/76. It was the first time we had taken our eldest son Mark to the panto, he was about three and a half. Part of the act , as normal, was to invite youngsters up onto the stage and Mark , rather reluctantly went. last in the queue. All the other kids were given presents of one sort or another but when it came to Mark's turn Arthur said to him "Sorry son, there's nothing left!" Mark replied "That doesn't matter" and turned to leave the stage but was stopped just in time as the two stars brought out a huge "goody Bag" full of toys and sweets and other things. The memory of this always brings a lump to my throat.

Can just about remember AE on Variety Bandbox, I must have been about eight or nine.

There is a baptism for a child of Walter Frederick and Ethel
    August 15 1912.
Parents address 22 Lyons Rd Aldershot. Walter Frederick's occupation is horse trainer.

I can't read the first name of the child but there is a birth reg on FreeBMD for John E English September 1/4 1912 Farnham which would fit.
