Hi
My sister in law is seeking her father an American GI .All she knows is that he was called William Reece / Reice , was stationed in Londonderry Northern Ireland about 1942.He also came from Chattanooga and worked on the railway there. He would have been born about 1920ish.Unfotunately her mother has passed away so she cannot find out anymore information.
If anyone knows of a Wiliam who served in Northern Ireland during the war and could be her father please get in touch.

Obviously if anyone does have information about William and it is conceivable that he could still be alive, this information should be sent by private message.

Strangely enough when I saw the name Reese I immediately thought of Wales - not that its got anything to do with your post!
I came across this 1920 US Fed census, but it could be anyone.
Chattanooga City, County of Hamilton.
William Reese 1886. Wales. Baggage "something" on Railroad. Mother born Wales.
wife: Clara 1892 Tennessee. Mother born Sweden.
dau: Evelyn 1913 TN
dau: Wilma? 1912 TN
son: WILLIAM 1916 TN
son: John under 1 year. TN
Brother: Lester 1900. Wales. Transfer Clerk.
I have no idea just who's garden path I might be going up, but I found 1 birth for a Lester Rees.
June Q 1905 Bedwelty. Monmouthshire.
Its daft for me to go any further with this because it would be the biggest miracle of all time if they turned out to be the correct family
Probably best with Military records and hope to narrow William Reese down that way.

This same William Reese appears with the same family in the 1930 and 1940 US censuses. There is an entry with a photo of William M. Reese in a yearbook for Central High School, Chattanooga on An**ry
U.S. School Yearbooks about William M Reese
Name: William M Reese
Estimated Birth Year: abt 1916
Age: 20
School: Central High School
School Location: Chattanooga, Tennessee
Year: 1936
Yearbook Title: Champion 1936
If you have any photos of your William you could compare them to see if this is the same person.

If Lynne has no actual photo of her William, maybe she could spot a family resemblance somewhere? - either way, good job on your part Jo!
