Default Thomas White-Liverpool Flanders genetic link

Hi, It's been about 4 years since I was here and had tremendous help from Wirral.
One of my gg-grandfathers was Thomas White b. abt. 1781, a merchant who owned 3 ships that plied between Liverpool and Ostend in Flanders (Belgium). His wife was Catherine Parry. One of his sons was born there in 1820 although most of his children were born in Liverpool. There is a marriage record of a Thomas White marrying Jane Graham at the Anglican church in Ostend in 1784 (possibly my ggg-grandfather). I'm not sure of her ancestry. So 3 Thomas Whites-1 per generation.

Since that research in 2009 I have been DNA tested with 23andMe and now have 3 DNA-cousins from Belgium. Adjacent to 2 of the matches on chromosome 5 I have another person with Liverpool ancestry. The small size of the chromosome segment we all share suggests an early date, probably before 1750 or earlier.

None of my Belgian cousins know of any English connection.

I'm trying to find out more about the Whites in Liverpool before 1781. Also his ships-1 was named The Swallow I think.

    Any suggestions gratefully accepted.

Ancestry now has original images of many Liverpool records, including the marriage of Thomas White to catherine Parry in St.Anne's, Liverpool on 21 July 1807.

ancestry also has the administration of the effects of a will of a Thomas White Master mariner, late of Liverpool who died 8 July 1849 in Pisco Chile
It says more than this but the probate wasn't sorted until 11 January 1871. He had a spinster daughter Elizabeth living in Kilmarnock, Ayr in 1871.

    surname white
    all events
    1761 + / - 20 years
11th november 1744 at St Peters ,Liverpool
    Cornelius White - a sailor
Margaret Critchley - a spinster ...............this is just an example ........there will be other records in Liverpool of Sailors named White from 1744 - 1781 ....but I will let you sift through them .....more fun that way - hopefully you will find something of interest
2 baptisms on this site for Thomas White in Liverpool born c1781 - 1779 and 1784 ....Thomas as father in 1779 and ROSS as father in 1784 ...if Thomas White who married Catherine Parry had a son named Ross ??..it would point to the 1784 baptism ??

    he was not born there
Where does that information come from, please? His obituary in The Times says he was a native of Liverpool.

Have you exhausted a conventional family history approach? What does his marriage certificate say? Are there any clues in his will?

Have you tried Liverpool Record Office?

Click HERE to read an old thread on Brit-Gen forums about Thomas White.

I also found an article in The Glasgow Herald Here which says he was always reticent about his age but then says he was born 1877.

There are two possible marriages for this couple
    On same page FreeBMD

    Marriages Jun 1/4 1900
    Elizabeth Myler and Thomas White
    Liverpool vol 8b page 228

    Or more likely I think.

    Marriages Jun 1/4 1902
    Elizabeth Waterson and Thomas White
    W. Derby vol 8b page 648

One of the children's birth certificates would sort it.

I can't see a suitable Thomas in 1901 but there is one with a wife Sarah. He is a green grocer, self employed, born Speke Lancashire but in 1862. This is probably the Thomas White referred to in the first link I gave you re Thomas' involvement with the Speke project.

Are this couple on the 1911 census I wonder?
