Default My Ulrich/Ulrick Grandfathers - Help please!

I am looking for any help with my Ulrich/Ulrick Grandfathers on my mothers side as I do not have any Christian names for my Grandfather, Gt Grandfather and Gt Gt Grandfather. I know that before the 1914 WW1 war the name was spelt Ulrich (with the h) but from 1914 they spelt it Ulrick (with the k) because of the German name. I believe they used Ulrick to sound more English and used that for any marriages, etc etc. The info that I do have is as follows:-

My Gt Gt Grandfather Ulrich (I think? Gt Gt?) was born in Potsdam, Germany and came to England at the turn of the 1800's and was a watchmaker

My Gt Grandfather Ulrich or Ulrick was born in England and lived all his life in North Hampstead, London

My Grandfather Ulrich or Ulrick was born in London, I think? and was a coachman at some point in London
He married (my Grandmother) and her name was Ada Webber born I think? 1872/3 in London area
Their children which would help trace things maybe? were Alexander Ulrich/Ulrick born 1902?
    Albert (Bert) " " born 1906
and my Mother Violet Ada " " born 1909 St Johns Wood
There may have been more children, not sure?

Any info would be great especially for info on Grandfather from Potsdam, Germany then I could find out why he came to England at the turn of 1800. Thank you very much. From Carol Harris in South Africa.

This marriage gives you Ada's husband's name which should make it easier to move back.

Violet Ada's father was Charles Edward Ulrich, coachman. His father was Edwin Alfred, also a coachman. Edwin's father was Gerhard Christopher Ulrich but he was a shoe maker. Gerhard married Kezia Stone and Edwin married Martha Wright.

An Alan Roberts put in a correction for the names on ancestry in Nov 2011

So Edwin's father is not the watchmaker but the shoemaker. John the watchmaker and Gerrard/Gerhard could be brothers?

    Reference #8
London, England, Freedom of the City Admission Papers

    on 11 October 1827
A John Gottlieb ULRICH ( jnr) who was born circa 1798 (could be Gerhard's brother) applied for the above, in his statement he said he JGU hade been born in England of parents that he is the son of John Gottlieb ULRICH a native of Hambrough in Germany married to an English woman and resided in England until his demise. The petitioner JGU junior was born and has resided since!

Looking at the census this JGL declared he was born Tower Hamlets 1798 whilst GCU 's census details are transcribed as Tarves Hill!!
