Default The Dog Inn, Alcester Street, Birmingham

The Dog Inn Public House, Alcester Street, Birmingham

I am seeking help regarding an old public house by the name of The Dog Inn which used to be situated in Alcester Street in Birmingham . I believe that the building used as the pub was an old Victorian property but have no idea of the extent of number of years that it was actually in use as a public house.
I understand that in the early 1980's the building changed use from a pub & became the home of the Light House Rescue Mission & it's presently now used as a fast food outlet.
The 1911 census entry shows the pub address as 154 Alcester Street but it's listed as 153 in the 1901 census.
If anyone could possibly tell me any information at all about the old pub I would be most grateful please. Also, it would be wonderful if anyone could point me in the right direction as to where I might be able to track down an old picture of the pub. I have tried searching on the internet for a picture but could only find some for another pub called The Spotted Dog which is situated further down the street & is still open as a pub these days.
Any help at all would be most appreciated.
    Thank you.

    Hi.

Have you tried searching "Historical Directories" - https://www.historicaldirectories.org...dbykeyword.asp

For example searching under "Alcester Street" produces (amongst others) the "History and Directory of Birmingham 1849" which lists "The Dog and Partridge".

The "Dog and Partridge" did not become simply "The Dog" ( a possibility - hence earlier post). The Birmingham Daily Post, under "Transfer of Licences" in 1874 reported the transfer of the "Dog, Alcester Streeet" from Joseph Foxall to Edwin Cumberland.

Have seen the Dog and Partridge listed later in 1880 under "Transfer of Licences".

    old maps https://www.old-maps.co.uk/index.html
click on link, enter coordinates 408042 286200
when all maps loaded click on 1889 Town Plans and when loaded in main window, click to "zoom". Both Dog and Partridge and Spotted Dog on map.

Have "navigated" (the old) Alcester Street but couldn't see just "The Dog". Where was it in relation to the pubs identified?

I see the OP has located the requested photograph(s) elsewhere.
