Thank you everyone for the information. I was wondering would there be any records of her being in the hospital. I think her husband died 2 yrs later and there might be a chance he was in the same hospital as mary.

I was worrying about why I didn't spot this hospital when I looked at the 1901 census.
I now see that it was enumerated...
The National Archives; RG 13/1248 f 160
...but not as an institution - just as an ordinary dwelling which is why it didn't show up on a quick scan of institutions.
