Default ROSETTA HAYTER nee DAISH, Isle of Wight

ROSETTA DAISH was born in the early/mid 1850s, on the Isle of Wight (or just across the water in Hampshire or Dorset). In about 1877, she married WILLIAM HAYTER and their first child, Annie Louisa, was born in 1878. Annie Louisa is my husband's paternal grandmother, which makes William and Rosetta great-grandparents in that line.

William and Rosetta's other children were/include: George, William, Ada (who married a Mr Boon), a little Rosetta, and a Herbert or Hubert. (Some of the Census images are poor and sometimes 'Rosetta' has been mis-transcribed as 'Priscilla'.)

I am finding it difficult to establish exactly where/ when Rosetta was born and where she was in 1871 and 1861. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Also, was 'Rosetta' a vogue name in the 1850s?

    Many thanks from The Wideyedowl

Ahem Pennydog see post #2 for Rosetta in 1871.

in the 1871 census it also says Rosetta was born in Whippingham same as the one you found in 1861.

This is Rosetta's birth reg March qtr 1854 Isle of Wight 2b 437.

As she is a direct relative you might be advised to get this birth cert to confirm just who her parents are.

Sorry Terry, should have read your post properly (or put my glasses on!). At least it looks we have the same girl.

Found her RG10/1161/19/1 - Coppins Bridge, Whippingham

(FMP has her surname as Dore)
