    Default Langsford - Reid

    Hi
    I am looking for any information on the parents and 2nd marriage and children for my grandfather William Henry Langsford born 1859 in Crediton, Devon, England. According to the 1911 Census William Henry was 52 years old. He was married to Hope Ansell in April 1901 and had 9 children (born between 1863 and 1900). He married Lydia Reid in England their first child born 1903. Their childrens names are Marjorie, Walter, Doris, Leonard, Lawrence, Arthur, Phyllis (my mother) and Hilda. William Henry has lived in St Andrew, Devonshire and Shoreditch South as well as Tottenham, Middlesex. Any help you can give would be appreciated.

    Ancestry London Marriages has his marriage at St Mark, Old Street to Hope Ansell 6/4/1884 which confirms his father as Thomas Langsford - Carpenter.

    So the above looks good for being your man in 1861.

    Hi
    I am now trying to find the father of William Henry. My research shows two other posibilities from above (1)Thomas b1818 married to Ann Hargraves b1826 d1823 they show the same children as above with the same birthdates. (2) Thomas b 1818 married to Anne Locke b1821 however only show Sarah Ann b1831. Child birth date not the same. I am confused, can anyone help me?

    I think you really need to get William Henry's birth cert which will confirm the name of his parents and his mother's maiden name.

    This looks like the reference;

    William Henry Langsford - September qtr 1859 Crediton 5b 360

    I am looking the the first wife of Thomas Langsford b: 1818 Alphington, Devon, England d:1887 Plymouth, Devonshire, England. I believe her name is Mary Ann Ware b:1821 D:4 July 1897. I do not see her on the 1851 census. I believe she had 5 children: Thomas 1847, Mary J 1848, Joseph 1849, John (Juno) 1850 and Sarah Ann 1851. Thomas later married Ann Lock on 12 May 1845 and had 6 or 7 children by her, as you can see from earlier posts. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
