    Default William Harvey White

Bit of confusion here over a 1861 Census in Plaitford, Wiltshire, England

William was Baptized Feb 2, 1851

Parents Harvey White and Elizabeth hatchett

Siblings Alfred Henry White and Agnes Emily white

My confusion comes from 2 census records I found Either one could be correct?? Can that be possible??

Both have the correct year of birth and place of Birth Correct.
Both have him living with grandparents
Both of the grandparents listed are correct

One is : Source Citation: Class: RG 9; Piece: 686; Folio: 98; Page: 5

The other: Source Citation: Class: RG 9; Piece: 1313; Folio: 43; Page: 5

Source one lists living with Grandmother Charlotte and siblings

The other Living with Grandparents William and Sarah White plus their daughter Sarah

No idea which one would be correcct.

    Does it matter?

What you're saying is that they are both credible but you can't tell which one is true. I don't think any of us can. That's in the nature of censuses.

If you want to hypothesise you could imagine that his mother had him listed with her just to make sure he wasn't missed out but he was actually with his other grandparents.

You also can't tell if the boy was just staying overnight or living there on a more long term basis. Again, that's the way the census works.
