Good afternoon All ,
as a foot note to this thread , i received this week end my Grandfathers records from the Army personnel center , one of the documents showed that he served as a officers mess corporal from Feb. 1919 until Sept 1922 , he was back in England DEC 1922 .
this confirms the family rumor that he was a 'batman' of some kind , and possible explains the lapel badge .

Badges, military and otherwise, are a popular collectors' items, and there are doubtless books, websites, and specialist web forums devoted to them. Also, keeping an eye on auction sites, and/or going to collectors'/ephemera fairs might reveal something similar. Can you post a scan here?
