    This marriage looks promising.

St Philip Church, Lambeth. 4th May 1873.

George Taylor age 24, Coachman, 25, Richmond St, father: George Taylor (Coachman)
Mary Ann Penfold, age 23, 25, Richmond St, father:William Penfold (Carman)

Witnesses: William Penfold, and (I think it says) Mary Penfold??

that you are right Lizzy (and I agree that it fits perfectly) then this entry from the 1871 Census looks promising
    RG10 piece 72 folio 61 page 45
    Stanley Road, Fulham
William PENFOLD aged 59, a Carman born ? Green, Sussex, a widower lodging with Ann PINCOTT

there is also a Mary A. PENFOLD aged 21 who was a Servant born Kensal Green, living at Leamington Rd Villas, Paddington (RG10 piece 3 folio 44 page 8 ) with the MCCLELLAN family

    the 1861 Census for 47, Gloucester Street, Lambeth (RG09 piece 350 folio 156 page 18 )
William PENFOLD aged 37, a General Labourer born Crowley, Surrey
Mary A PENFOLD aged 41 born Paddington, Middlesex
Mary A PENFOLD aged 10 born Westminster, Middlesex
Martha PENFOLD aged 8 born Westminster, Middlesex
Thomas PENFOLD aged 3 born Lambeth, Surrey

Lizzy could the second witness be Martha?

No Nicolina, it definitely ends in Y. If it does say Mary Penfold it could be the bride's mother.

William is supposed to be a widower in 1871, so, unless he remarried, that should rule out her mother. Of course it could be an Aunt or cousin. (or some-one was telling porkies)

I think this William is the one from 1861, he's with Mary Ann. RG10; Piece: 664; Folio: 94; Page: 38

Their living at 15, Richmond Street.

I've seen that Nicolina but I don't think he's the same chap whose details you posted for 1861. I think your post for 1861 is the same family as I posted for 1871 at #18
