Can anyone please point me in the right direction, I have been trying to find out what my Grandfather Edwin James Rogers did in the Royal Artillery in WWII to get Mentioned in Dispatches as I do not know. I have his medals with the oak leaf but I not have the certificate that should accompany it with the expalnation of what he did. I would also like to get a copy of the certificate if it is even possible.
I have bought his service record but that only has the word 'Mentioned' on it no other information.
I have found him on findmypast Royal Artillery honours list but that does not say why he was mentioned.
If any one knows what my next step should be I would be very grateful.
Kind Regards

According to the London Gazette after 1916 the list of commendations states where and when but not why. How disappointing!

He is listed in the London Gazette
Gazette Issue 37310 published on the 16 October 1945
Lt. E.J. Rogers 287819
Have you tried the Royal Artillery Museum to see if they hold Mentioned records. Also local papers can be useful.
You probably know this if you have his service record but he was awarded his while servicing in Italy.
