Default Hi from Australia.. looking for Brand

    Hi there
I'm now living in Australia but born in UK
We are looking for a relative who seems to be very elusive.
Gordon John Holmes Brand, born 3 April 1927 Croydon, Surrey, UK (coincidence that I'm posting this today)
I believe he was a Radio Engineer so could have an army record.
    Any help would be appreciated
    Cheers

Welcome to British-Genealogy Jan from another born in UK but lived in OZ for 50 years.

Because you have given details of a person you need help with I have moved your post to the Surrey forum where it will be seen by more of our friendly sleuths.

    I am friendly, honest

However, do you know whether Gordon is still alive, as if so I don't feel comfortable posting details.

I can tell you I've found a probable marriage for him, but not a death.

Not only are you friendly almach you are a darn sight more observant than me. The date of birth didn't register with me.

There are 2 births to G Brand and his wife. A female in 1949 and a male in 1950 both in an area of London.

I can't see a death for their father either.

    Hi there Christina and Almach
We do not know if Gordon is still alive. Family wisdom has it he came to Australia but can't find any trace.
He did marry 7 May 1949 to Betty Goodey in Barnstaple North Devon and possible had at least one child.
    He seems to have vanished.
    Many thanks for your thoughts!
    Cheers Jan

PS bear with me I am new to all this

    Gordon's mother's death registration
    Alice Georgina H Brand
    Born 31 Mar 1894
    Died Mar 1986 age 92
Registration district - Hounslow, London, England
    Vol 13 page 1382

I wonder if she left a will and whether Gordon was mentioned.

The only other suggestions I can make is to join friends reunited, use twitter, facebook etc.
The Salvation Army have a service for tracing people Here
There is also 'missing you' Here
The British Library has some suggestions Here
    Electoral registers Here

The above are assumng he stayed in the UK

    Default looking for Gordon

    Thanks a lot Christina.
Unfortunately I'm not a twitter or facebook 'girl' but I'll certainly check your other suggestions.
I have sent for his father's will (Cecil) as he died before Alice. I thought there could be something in there about them all. If not I'd certainly send for Alice's.

    Hi Christina
I've done a 'post' instead of a reply.. I'll get the hang of this eventually... as follows

    Thanks a lot Christina.
