Default home of good shepherd oystermouth glam

I have found a possible relative in 1911 census in an institution. There are 4, sisters of mercy,a cook and a maid to the Home of the Good Shepherd Oystermouth Glam. Most of the inmates are young girls,is this as I suspect a home for unmarried mothers? Can anyone give me any info of any institutions in the area ,names and uses.Is it possible to find out why they are there,as the census I found has blanked out.

The address isn't quite Oystermouth but very close by. Will try and establish if address changed after 1911 (Archives not open til Tuesday next).

"The object and purpose of the Institute of the Good Shepherd,......, is to reclaim and assist fallen and tempted women, and to offer them a house". Opening para in an article in the Western Mail 18 May 1875 at the opening of a home in cardiff.

I realise this is now a rather long dated enquiry, but please read on:

I have also tested "themumblesbook" link in the above message but that is a broken link.

There is reference to Mumbles Home For Girls, Swansea (1885-1902) at: http://www.hiddenlives.org.uk/homes/SWANS01.html

I realise your 1911 census date is later than the apparent closure of this establishment in 1902, but could there be a connection?

And now I've found an even better link in our local newspaper:

Put "Home of the Good Shepherd" Swansea into Google - there seems to be plenty of info
