My GG Gran had 4 children, all illegitamate, have all their birth certificates,no fathers mentioned, not sure if all had same father, would there have been any kind of claim against the father/fathers of these children and if so where could the record for such be checked
All born Tarvin Cheshire between 1854-1858, being so close I am thinking it may have been the same father.
Children were all in the workhouse from the time the youngest was brn in 1858.

This link may hold some answers Val, or try Bastardy Bonds Cheshire. Suggestions I saw was to contact the courthouse of that Parish. Seems those records were kept in the Parish chest & transferred to the Record Office.Happy Families

First step would be to check the poor law records for Great Boughton union, which covers Tarvin.
Secondly, look for an affiliation order in the records of the relevant petty sessional court.
Both the above should be at Cheshire Archives. They have an online catalogue, and a research service.
You will find this is very helpful reading.
