Going back to the William McEvoy you found in Ireland in 1901 - he could possibly be Thomas's father though I think his wife Mary may be a second wife. She is much younger and too young to be Thomas's mother.
Family search does have a marriage Oct -Dec 1895 Tipperary for a William McEvoy. There is also a possible death to consider of another Mary McEvoy Jan - Mar 1895 Tipperary age 58.

Interesting stuff, my grandfather had 3 kids, Terence, Thomas and Theresa.
My dad was born in May 1921 so that would fit nicely with what you have found out but there were ony 3 children born to the family
    Thanks again
    Patrick

Perhaps the other five were the children of John Farrelly and Margaret.

We posted these for you before.

    Marriages Sep 1912 Prestwich 8d 839
    Farrelly Patrick
    McEvoy Mary E

    Marriages Jun 1913 Barton I. 8c 1228
    Farrelly John
    McEvoy Margaret

You could order these certificates from the GRO, but the marriages were held in Lancashire and you don't seem sure if they got married in Ireland or Lancashire. Remember, from the census, there is a McEvoy family living in the same area and the father is called Thomas, (his wife is Ellen), and he had a daughter called Mary and another called Margaret, both born in Tipperary. So even if you obtained the certificates and the father's name was recorded as Thomas, how would you know it was your Thomas?

    A few questions for you..

    1. Do you know the name of Patrick Farrelly's father? If you do, then you can ask the GRO to check his father's name on those marriage certificates.
    2. How you know the McEvoys came over to Lancashire after 1901.
    3. How do you know that Mary Ellen McEvoy's mother was Mary McArthy?

Hope you don't mind me asking, but it helps us to search for the right family for you.

    Dear Olliecat
My excitement has got the better of me and I missed the marriage dates - sorry!
You know your stuff for sure.

I do not know for sure that the McEvoys came over in 1901 from Ireland, just bits of family gossip.
Patrick's fathers name was JAMES and the family lived in Hilltown, Westmeath in 1901. He had died by the time of the 1911 census.
A relative gave me a copy of MARY ELLEN'S birth cert so I know for sure she was born in Limerick Junction in 1887 and her mother was nee McCARTHY

    Hope this helps
    Patrick

That's good. Then you could order one or both of those marriage certificates from the GRO, specifying that the groom's father's name must be JAMES. Have you ordered certificates from the GRO before?
