Just thought I would drop by and introduce myself. My name's Jennie and I found this forum while trying to find out why a birth record could be missing.
I'm really quite new to family history and have only been working on it a few weeks, but I have managed to get quite far so far. There are just a few branches on my tree that are a total mystery.

Welcome to Brit-Gen. Don't be dismayed by those mystery branches - we all have them and when eventually they get solved it can be a real feeling of satisfaction.

Thanks for that Procat, we seem to be getting somewhere with one of them and it's very recent actually. A living relative who has never had a birth certificate, just trying to confirm that the people she's known as her parents weren't her birth parents (seems they were her aunt and uncle).
