John Roberts Symonds m Mary Williams 04 Oct 1863 Constantine, Cornwall, England (Both age 23) John's father was Nicholas Symonds. It is an extracted record so it should be reliable

The Cornish OPC has a full parish record of the marriage. Jane's christening is also on the OPC

I then looked on the census

The OPC marriage of John & Mary looks to be the one I am searching for. Mary's father is shown as John Williams which ties in to the birth record for Elizabeth Sarah Simmonds Williams born to Jane Williams.

I think this rules out Edward and Mary as parents.

Fiona - you mentioned Jane's christening is also on the OPC. I can't find it. Can you please send details.

The baptism record I found had Edward & Mary as parents, itis the only baptism on the OPC for a Jane Williams b 1853

If you look on FreeBMD you will find the Birth 's for all the childrens Christenings that I gave you before.
there is a Jane and Orpah Jane.

Do you have a death record for either Mary of Jane? My South Australian death records only go to 1915 and I couldn't find them there. Hopefully that would clear up the mystery of who their fathers are.

Many thanks for the help you are giving me in my searching.

Jane Hann (nee Williams) died 26.1.1919 at Campbelltown SA. Details given to me in May 2009 by the Research Co-ordinator for SAGHS:

District of Norwood
wife of John Edwin Hann
birthplace Cornwall
resident of Commonwealth for 50y
age at marriage 20y

I took this info to be the full record, meaning mother & father were not included. I did not get the Death Certificate.

Just to confuse the matter further - the IGI Individual Record shows Jane Bennett Williams as the name with the correct marriage & date of death. One of her 13 children had the name Bennets Hann. I have a John Williams 1830-1874 m. Ann Bennetts 1831 at Saint Merryn on 5/10/1852.
