    Have a go - once you get used to the letter forms used it is very satisfying to be able to transcribe a will - if you get stuck, we're here to help.

    One thing - when copying the will keep to the same words per line; it's easier to avoid losing your place in the will.

    I had a look again at the will over my first cuppa this morning, I have to agree to the words 'uses' and 'use' and have edited the transcript accordingly (amendments in red so you know what has changed).

    If you get stuck and want a little help, the rest of the page from where you left off reads:

    nevertheless upon the trusts and for the intents and purposes hereinafter
    expressed and declared concerning the same that is to say upon trust
    that they my said four trustees above named or the survivors or survivor
    of them or their executors or administrators of such survivor do and shall
    receive and take the dividends of the one hunred pounds stock as the
    same shall become due and pay the same (after deducting all changes
    and expences attending the execution of the trusts unto the persons
    called Churchwardens and Overseers of the poor of the parish of Warborough
    aforsaid for the time being annually on the twentieth day of the third
    month and their receipt or receipts of the maor part of them
    shall from time to time be good and sufficient discharges to my said
    trustees for the same And it is my will that the said persons called
    Churchwardens and Overseers for the time being or the major part of
    shall lay out and (....?)* such dividends in the purchase of
    clothing and distribute and divide yearly equally among ten

    NB You'll occasionally see odd marks at the end of a line of text in a will, this may look like ~ or + or z, or a letter a, or something similar. It means nothing, it is there to ensure no space is left in a line so that someone can add anything to change the meaning of a will. It is up to you as to whether or not you include these marks in your transcript. I tend to omit them unless there are several marks ~ ~ ~ ~ (doesn't happen often) which then help to pick out where the transcript and original correspond.
