    Default Severne family

I am seeking information about Francis Severne , Jeweller, of Derby. The IGI records him as b. abt. 1783 of St Peter's Derby, no parents named.
He married Louisa Wright of Derby in 1810 at All Saints.
In Glovers Directory 1829 he is listed as a Member of the Corporate Body (some kind of councilor ?). He died 1832. His widow is listed as a member of the 'Gentility' in a later directory.
The writer J Lewis Moiliet suggests the father of Francis was Thomas Severne born in Pensax, Worcestershire. I am now doubtful about the place of birth, could it have been Worcs?
Any help at all would be appreciated, thank you,
    Lillian

I would suggest that your best course of action is to examine the parish register to see if there's any truth in those IGI patron submissions and to see what additional information is shown in the register. There may be some valuable clues.

The IGI entry claiming to show his birth can be ignored.

Thanks Peter, I will try and get to the records office.
I think one of the problems with the IGI is too many submissions from USA researchers who do not have access to British parish records. Severne was the name of one of the first group of settlers in 1640's.
    Thanks again, Lillian
