In the parish of Birstall, Huddersfield. GENUKI has a photograph of the church - St Philip and St James.

I think that's a different Scholes, Jan. West Yorkshire has a few places named Scholes.

I would imagine the Scholes where John was born is the one which is in the district of Holmfirth and less than a mile from Hepworth

Could not find anything suitable for Joe on 1901 census but did find this on FreeBMD
Death - Joe Haigh September 1/4 1900 registration district Huddersfield (which covers Hepworth) age 15 vol 9a page 185.

i have been intouch with huddersfield library about the marriage of john haigh (b.1954 scholes) and sarah ann ? (b.1855 hepworth)

according to them my john haigh married sarah ann battye in 1880 but they have found that there is a 4yr gap between the ages of either john or sarah ann

is there any way to check ages at marriage and whether it is the right marriage without buying marriage cert for that marriage or birth cert for 1 of the children has don't have the funds to do so
