I'm tracking down a possible 2x GG named William Williams born about 1830 in Llowes, I've got him on the 1861 and 1871 census and maybe on the 1851 census (HO107, 2448, 801, 11). The problem I have is with the 1851 census with his birth place shown as Raiader, Radn.
I've gone through various current and older maps but can't find anyplace with a name similar to that.
Any suggestions would be most welcome,
Gary

Could it be Rhayador? Radnorshire. Wales?

These days the spelling is Rhayader and the county is Powys if you want to look it up on a search engine

Thanks Squaredancer & Wendy
I guess with the two places some 30 plus miles apart I'll have to keep this as a possibility only.
Still digging,
Gary

Hi Gary,
I notice that on the 1851 census W.W. is a visitor in Bedwellty; in that case he might not have been resposible for the accuracy of the information given to the enumerator. Unless you can find another W.W. in the other censuses who did come from Rhayader I would stop worrying.
