Hi Nicolina,
Thanks for the references. I don't know the area at all so on my next trip north I will have to detour. It would be nice to find somone with a connection to my Harrison's. One of William's daughter's is still alive in her late eighties but she doesn't like the idea of tracing your family and finding out their secrets!!! There a few that I have discovered and she is not pleased about it.

Hi Karen,
They're under "England & Wales Christening Records, 1530-1906"
(via Search/Birth, Marriage and Death including Parish)
It doesn't include everything and, as with all transcriptions, it's highly recommended to try and find out what the original record says!
Cheers,
Nick

Hi Nick,
Thank you so much for your help. I have had a look at A***. You learn something new everyday!!!!
I am erring on the side that William wrote his place of birth down wrong (and we thought people writing it down themselves would reduce mistakes!!). The fact that my gt grandmother gave William's mother's name as Mary Elizabeth on his burial record (and she was known as Bessie) makes them the right family I hope. I wait in hope for the 1921 census!!!!
Thank you once again for your help it is appreciated.

I thought that you might be interested in the fact that I have now found the marriage of my Great Grandfather. He was entered as HARRINSON, so am now waiting for his marriage certificate to arrive to find out who his father was. Maybe there will be a link somewhere. Although Harrison is quite a common name it seems strange that my family and yours should live less than 3 miles apart. My mother (90 in June) remembers visiting her Grandparents and says that they lived near other family members. Unfortunately she says that she doesn't know any names though.
