Can anyone help to find a marriage for a Mary Burgon and John Hall around 1828-1832. Mary was baptised at St Peters in 18/09/1812, her 2 sisters were married at St Peters, Ann married George Thorp 2/12/1829 and Elisabeth married Thomas Sidebotham 19/09/1836, but I cannot find a marriage for Mary. John Hall and Mary were living in Gorton Manchester by 1832, so there is a possibility she didn't marry in Hope ??

The marriages for Hope, Derby are extracted entries on the IGI.
As you say, Ann and Elizabeth are there but not Mary.
I doubt her marriage was in Hope but I cannot see her married to a John Hall elsewhere either though there are other entries for a Mary Burgon and variations.
She is easy to find in the census and their eldest son, Joseph was born in Gorton in 1833, as was dad earlier. Maybe the marriage was there.
Unfortunately ,the Gorton marriages on the IGI are 1838 - 1880 so it would mean finding the parish records, if they are available. Sorry

Thanks Mutley.
I'll be in Manchester this week it will give me the chance to visit the Records office. There is I believe a birth registered before Joseph Hall for a Jannah Hall
01/05/1831 , I think this should read 'Hannah' ?? If I am not right then i have been researching the wrong family . I have also found a baptism for John Hall on 05/04/1812 at Gorton Chapel.
You found Mary/John Hall in the census could you possibly let me have the details just to confirm I have the correct family . According to my research they were in Liverpool in the 1841 census and then in Blackley for the 1851-1871 census.
Thanks

I am not sure if this is them but there is a marriage on FreeBMD for an Elizabeth Hall with Josia Green on the same page in March 1865 in Manchester.
I am not sure this Crumpsall family is the same as the ones you have found living in Blackley.

St Peters Hope
Thanks Mutley
Thankfully it is the same family, otherwise I would have been researching the wrong family for the last few years. I doubt if the 1881 census family is right ,as it gives Johns birthplace as Colne it should be Gorton.
I think the next step is to look at the Manchester Cath. and Stockport St Marys church records and try and find that marriage record. I have already tried the igi for M/c without success , my only thought is possibly their marriage hasn't been transcribed yet..... ??
PS hows the weather in the Algarve ?
