Jane Sophia Blackwell

My grandfather Walter Benjamin Godfrey married Jane Sophia Blackwell on 29 March 1938 at Bristol Register Office. He was 65 years and she 53. They lived in Bristol. I believe Jane was a spinster and this was my grandfather's seond marriage. I dont know anything about Jane or her family. Can anyone help?

December 1906 Bristol ref 6a 145 to either a Mary Ann Guy or a Emily Hannah Stiddard.

The only Jane Sophia Blackwell I can see is one who was born and died in Islington in 1883.

Plenty of Jane Blackwalls and Blackwells so the marriage certificate should give her father's name to pin her down in the census. That is, if she was a spinster.

Sorry I am new to this! I do have the marriage certificate and Jane Sophia Blackwell describes herself as a spinster born aged 53 years. Her father was deceased at the time of Jane's marriage in 1938 His name was Edwin Blackwell, Labourer

Hi Elma it looks like Jane Sophia for some reason possibly changed her surname.

Facts Father an Edwin occ Labourer same as Edwin Titcombe on 1891
thought she might be using her (if it is her) mother's maiden name but this Edwin married a Henrietta Jane F Knights in Cricklade Sept 1880 ref 5a 62.
Middle name of Jane born Cricklade is Sophia?

Hopefully the rest of the night shift researchers can help out and solve the problem!

Also as you have Certificate does it show where she was born/or father
