Hi Jap and to everyone else who have been a great help,JAP just like you I found my grate grandfathers birth records but before I ask for them I put through my fathers birth date and parents names and for some strange reason I'm getting no feed back what could be the reason for that,I used the same web site BDM that you sugested but nothing came up how strange.Here is my fathers name is Leslie Alfred Masters, birth date 31/10/1928 he was born in Picton nz parents are Alfred and Emily Masters,can you figure that out why there is not birth record but there is of his father Alfred.

Hi Chrissy,
The NZ historical indexes are limited to (this is a quote from their website):
" * Births that occurred at least 100 years ago
* Stillbirths that occurred at least 50 years ago
* Marriages and eventually Civil Unions that occurred at least 80 years ago
* Deaths that occurred at least 50 years ago or the deceased's date of birth was at least 80 years ago."
