I am looking for details of the parents of Martha. Martha was born abt 1823 in Queen Charlton. She married William Bevan on 21 March, 1847 at Bedminster. She died on 10 May, 1889 at Brislington. The only info I have is that her father was William Rake. Her daughter, Maria Bevan, emigrated to Australia and married a George Trim
Thanks in advance

Hi there,
Do you have Martha's marriage cert. If so, does it give her father's occupation? What are the names of the witnesses?

Do you need the census entries, I haven't found Martha on all of them yet, but I will post the information if you need it.

Marriage Certificate
Hi,
The cert gives his occupation as 'Labourer'
The witnesses' names are hard to decipher but my best estimate of one of them is Mary Ann Lansdown.
It appears that all of them were illiterate - the couple signed with marks and the witness writing is the same as the rest of the certificate

Eric,
William Rake/Raikes married Hester Branch on 4 April 1821 in the parish of Publow. The bride was of this parish i.e. Publow and the parish of the groom was given as Queen Charlton.
These places are neighbouring villages so this appears to be the persons you are looking for.
I'll see what else I can dig up.
