Does anyone know anything about Mynyddbach Chapel in the Swansea Valley area? My mother Mary Griffiths married my father Thomas Baden Roberts there in 1928. I'm interested in knowing if the chapel is still open and where it is/ or was located. If anyone has been researching the chapel history/ records I would appreciate any information of where best to start my search.
many thanks
Terry

Hello Terry,
Have you seen this page on GENUKI's Chapel database? Scroll down to about half way to find the entry and where to find the records.

THanks John
I visited the chapel last summer, the building still stands but is no longer used as a place of worship. The graveyard is difficult to get around due the overgrown weeds etc.
Thanks again for showing an interest

Terry,
Mynyddbach Chapel, Swansea, south west Wales, now has it's own website: https://www . mynyddbachchapel . com
There is both an email address and a telephone number shown for enquiries.
Considerable efforts are being been made to open-up parts of the graveyards. It would appear that the area nearest the chapel has been cleared first, and since the perfomance of "Calon Lan" by 'Only Boys Aloud' on the telly, a path has been cleared and sign-posted to the grave of Daniel James its author.
Regards, John,
Swansea south west Wales.

Hi, I realise that this is a long shot but you never know your luck.....
I don't suppose your mother was related to a 'Peggy' Griffiths who married William Derby in 1927? Peggy was from Wales and William was a sailor from East London.
Told you it was a long shot......lol.

Hi Nicola
Thanks for the info - as far as I can tell there is no Peggy related to my mother, but who knows I may be wrong as it's always a surprise when you're researching to find something you never expected. Appreciate your interset.
