Hello Folks',
This is my first post here so please bear with me.
I am trying to find 2 sets of records. The first is for my Gt Grandfather, Charles McDonald born 1868 in Montrose. He was a Merchant Seaman and sailed from Montrose. He returned from a trip and fell out with his wife and about turned and signed up for a ship going to the Gold Coast, in Africa. I am led to beleive that this took place sometime between 1902 1nd 1911.
My question is how can I find his sailing records in Scotland?
My second query is about his son, also Charles Macdonald, born in 1901 in Brechin. He joined the Royal Navy and was on board HMS Whelp. He was the Naval equivalant of 'Batman' to Prince Philip of Greece. How can I find his sailing history or the history of his time on board this ship?
All help/suggestions is much appreciated.
Kind regards,
Lynda
