This is listed as the residence on my grandfather's birth certificate. I would like to get more information on this, if possible. Does anyone have any idea where I would look for it? Is it a street or group of houses or just one lonely cottage that may have been torn down ages ago?
Any advice would be gratefully received.

Aislin,
Faygate was/is a small village in West Sussex. It is situated between the towns of Crawley and Horsham. If you use Google Earth you can see Faygate rail station at the top of the village. I do not know but would think that Bridge cottage might have been a cottage near the railway bridge. Perhaps the cottage has been demolished or renamed as it does not come up on any searches. My relaives lived there for some years from 1940. M

The whole address given is Bridge Cottage, Claygate, Thames Ditton U.D. , Registration District Kingston On Thames, Sub-District Esher in the County of Surrey (whew!)
I've tried Google Earth, Encarta maps, etc.
I did find one listing for a business on Bridge Cottage, but it was in Leatherhead which looks to be 5-10 miles away from Claygate.

I have a friend who lives in Claygate, I'll send her an email and ask her. She lives in a Cottage.... now wouldn't that be a co-incidence?
Give me a couple of days. Meanwhile:

What sort of time span are you looking at?
I found a Bridge Road so the cottage could be near there.
There are some old photos here
If its the same cottage, please ask her to forward the mail
