    Default The Hurst - Norwood?

    Does anyone have any idea where The Hurst is? It's probably in the Upper Norwood area somewhere - it's mentioned as a place to picnic in 1852. There was a gravel pit nearby and it seems to be an area of heathland and coppiced woodland. I haven't been able to find it on Streetmap or by googling.

    How about Croham Hurst? It is now in the London Borough of Croydon - as is Upper Norwood.

    Thanks, Jan. That looks like the place. The picnic party passed through Coydon on the way from Dulwich.
