    Question Marriage Licence Details

    Hi
    I have a marriage Feb 1804 at North Collingham between John Jackson of Middlesex and Ann Darwin of North Collingham by Licence but I cannot find the licence details on the Licence Disc. Does anyone know why it would not be showing there?

    Quite simply due to jurisdiction, the groom was from Middlesex and the bride from Nottingham therefore the licence had to be issued by the Archbishop of Canterbury (his officials) as he had jurisdiction over both dioceses.

    It is similar to the old probate jurisdiction.
