Can anyone help me find out who was the father of Edward Sagar. He was born in 1855 in Worsborough near Barnsley. His mother was Elizabeth Sagar (nee Rennison). His mother's husband was Joseph Sagar, but he died during a mining accident in 1849.
Joseph and Elizabeth had six children before his death. Elizabeth went on to have another four sons between 1850-1857 before re marrying William Hewitt in 1873.
All help gratefully received.
Thanks.

What does it say on Edward's birth certificate as to the name of his father?

I wondered if William might not be the father of all the illegitimate children, as he would be a very noble man to take them on.
I found a William Hewitt living in Barnsley with his wife Ellen on 1871 census
Class: RG10; Piece: 4647; Folio: 81; Page: 24;
He was a yeast dealer
There is a death of an Ellen Hewitt
