Helo John,
There is a birth registration for a Joseph Parks in the St Columb Major District, 1838, March quarter, volume 9, page 62. This district covers Newlyn.
If this is your Joseph, the certificate (which may be ordered from the GRO) should also provide his mother's maiden name.

Joseph Parks at Birmingham.
Hello Jan,
Many thanks for the birth details.
I have his parents and earlier generations.
I am interested to discover what happened to him after he left Cornwall.
I have been unable to locate him in the Birmingham area or to link him to a marriage.
Thanks again,
John.

Joseph PARKES
How about this one in the 1871 census of Edgbaston, Birmingham:
RG10/3083, folio 77, page 32
13 Lee Mount
Joseph PARKES Lodger Unm 32 Ironmonger Cornwall Newland East
He is lodging in the household of an Andrew LANGFORD and family.
However, I cannot find him in subsequent census records.

Joseph Parks in Birmingham
Many thanks for the 1871 Census entry.
Yes, that's certainly him.
In the 1881 Census his brother, James Parks and sister, Elizabeth Jane Parks are both visiting Harborne, but there is no sign of Joseph.
Thanks again, much appreciated.
John..

I have never found further information about Joseph Parks christened 18 Mar 1838. He is my great grandfather's brother. I have his ancestors to early 18th C. Do you want to compare notes?
