james and frances were matildas parents (my gt gt grandparents) - so it confirms that she left the child with her parents - at least one mystery is solved. Big thanks to all contributers.

I see other people have been busy too!

Note my comment on the William WEBB who was in Bardney in 1851.

    Thumbs up Noted!

And once again a big thank you for everyone. It looks like we can dust of the bones of this particular skeleton.

The story goes - Matilda had Nympha to a local boy (possibly Mr Webb) unmarried. The child grew up in her grandparents house and was was left with them (James and Frances) when Matilda married James Garside (a much older man) in 1857. Nympha later married Mr Higginbottom and had a family of her own.

In the meantime Matilda looked after Mr Garside's children from previous marriages as well as having several children between them - the youngest of which was Elizabeth Garside - who was my maternal grandmother.

So once again a big thank you to all contibuters who have helped to unravel the past.

    hi jim,

I know this conversation is quite old but ive just found this sight, i'm assuming you've got all your answers about nymphia how was my great great great gran, my family come from her daughter annie. i spoke to my grandmother who says nymphia did come and see annie (my grans, gran). i came to the conclusion that nymphias dad was a local lad and she is in the lincolnshire bastered register... im mainly writing to find out where your branch connects to nymphia and matilda..

    kind regards helena
