    Good Morning Rod,
    Had an inspiration last night...as you do
    British Origins has been a place where I've found much needed information.

    On their free index search they have 69 entries for John VIDLER between
    Marriage Licence Allegations - Faculty Office (1701-1850) & Boyds Marriage Index (1538-1840)

    1 entry for Louisa Austen/Austin on the same indexes.

    It is a subscription site but not too expensive for a 72 hour sub at 6.50 pounds.

    Might be worth looking into,

    jane

    Thank you Jane. I will go and have a deco and see what else they possibly have for other areas I am looking into. Might as well get my monies worth from them.

    I do hope you do not keep pen and paper on the bedside cabinet for when these inspiration hit

    Rod, here are replies to the query I put on Rootschat;

    1. A negative result I am afraid. BIVRI does not give a match. Interestingly enough there are a few John Vidlers' who were all married in Rye Sussex. A search I Louisa produced nothing.

    2. I did find a Louisa Austen christened 1/1/1815 at Mayfield Sussex, born to John & Mary Austen. Oops just seen yours was born in Battle. Cannot find her or Albert in Battle

    3. Dear Jane

    There are millions of Vidlers researchers on GenesRenuited.

    4. Also try Graham Fidler at Guild One-Name Search - Vidler Forum with his email on it.
